In order to provide clients with a comprehensive
redistricting solution, DEC provides an array of consulting services as described in the
following:
On Site Support
At times our clients are faced with project timelines and goals which require
engagement of outside assistance. DEC's on-site support services is designed to provide
clients with expert technical assistance on an as needed basis. On-site support
services include, training, installation, database development, redistricting support,
systems configuration and database administration. DEC's on-site support team have
extensive experience with the use of autoBound and Arcview GIS for redistricting projects.
DEC's on-site support team can help get projects up and running or support existing
staff on going redistricting projects.
Programming
On-site and off-site programming support is available through our Application
Development Services group. The DEC Application Development Services group is available
for projects using languages, such as C, C++, Visual Basic, and Visual C++. Additionally,
DEC can develop applications using GIS proprietary languages such as ESRIs AML and
Avenue.
Database Support Services
An integral part of an enterprise Geographic Information System is the database. DEC
has been providing database implementation and support services for over 6 years. DEC is
an Oracle Business Alliance member and has implemented numerous large-scale database
systems throughout United States. DECs Database Administrators are available to
support the implementation of database management systems necessary for any redistricting
project.
Data Conversion
At times the rollout GIS services also requires the development of the clients
GIS database. As a result, DEC has continued to maintain an in-house staff of data
conversion experts. The Database Conversion group at DEC can support projects such as
conversion of Census Bureau Tiger files, Import and Export of redistricting plans from
other GIS and hardcopy sources and any data development necessary to support the
redistricting effort.
System Administration
Frequently the initial implementation of a GIS requires the installation and operation
of large-scale networks of servers and workstations. Such installations are also typically
performed when the clients in-house staff are unfamiliar with the new system and are
in the process of receiving training. DECs Systems Support group can provide
experienced on-site systems support staff needed to assist client in the rollout of
systems during the initial phases of a GIS implementation. Additionally, the Systems
Support group can provide specialized support needed for redistricting and reapportionment
systems.
Network Support
Nearly every enterprise wide implementation of GIS will
require access to a local area network. The quantity of typical GIS data will also require
the network be able to manage large data throughput. DECs Network Support Group
provides services needed for the design and implementation of networks for GIS
applications such as redistricting.
