Technology and Supported File Formats

E-MAPS is based on the ESRI MapObjects 2.X technology. MapObjects was selected due to its light foot print, easy installation and minimum hardware requirement. The use of MapObjects enabled the design of a system which would be survivable during an emergency situation. E-MAPS can be quickly installed on any computer without the need for license management or extensive configuration.

Additionally, MapObjects provides a comprehensive suite of map display and analysis tools on a small foot print compatible to most versions of Windows.

E-MAPS provides support for the following data formats:

ESRI Shape files
ESRI Coverages
VPF
AutoCAD DXF, DWG
Intergraph DGN
DBase IV

MS Access
GeoTiff
MrSIDD
BMP
JPEG
GIF

Each copy of E-MAPS is shipped with data for the user's jurisdiciton as well as any adjoining jurisdictions. Users with existing ESRI databases can substitue locally created data in place of the software's default database.
